Rules
A player must be 10 or under to pitch. No 11-year-olds are allowed to pitch.
For the 1st half of the season (5 games), coaches will pitch up to 5 pitches per batter. If the batter fails to put the ball in play, it is considered a strikeout, unless the 5th pitch is a foul ball. The at-bat will continue until the batter either puts the ball in play or fails to make contact. If a batted ball hits the coach, the ball is dead and that pitch is not counted as one of the 5 pitches. The child playing the pitchers position must have one foot in the circle when the ball crosses the plate.
For the second half of the season (5 games) and for the tournament kids will pitch with coaches coming in to pitch once a pitcher gets 4 balls on the batter. A coach will pitch to their own team. If a batter is hit by a coach pitch, they do not automatically get their base. The coach will be allowed to pitch only 4 pitches – if the batter does not hit the ball in those 4 pitches, the batter is out. If the 4th ball is a foul ball, the batter will continue to bat until they strike out or get caught looking.
Pitchers are allowed to pitch only 3 innings/game.
No more than 5 pitches between innings
Pitchers are not allowed to re-enter the game as a pitcher once they have been removed from that position.
Each team fields 10 players, but all players bat. A game can be played with a minimum of 8 players.
If a team has players missing, they are allowed to pick up a limit of 2 other players off a minor league team. A team may not fill their roster beyond 10 players.
If you need to pick up more than 2 players from other minor league teams to fill your roster to 8, then the game will be forfeited but still played for fun.
Free substitution is allowed; coaches are allowed in the outfield to help coach defensive players
Games are 6 innings. If a game is tied after 6 innings, one extra inning will be played. If the game is still tied after the extra inning, the game will end in a tie. This does not apply to tournament play.
If – at the end of a season – there is a tie for season champion, the champion (and tournament seeding) will be determined by:
The win/loss record (example: 7 wins-2 losses-1 tie would win over a 7 wins-3 losses)
Head to head (better winning % on head to head games wins)
Total runs given up head to head (fewest runs on head to head games wins)
Total runs given up for the season (fewest runs given up wins)
Total runs scored in the season (most runs scored wins)
Coin flip
During the first 5 games, players are not allowed to steal with the coach pitching. During games 6-10 and during the tournament players may steal third base only but may not advance home on an overthrow. No stealing will be allowed when the coach is pitching. Players can steal at any time - the ball does not have to go to the backstop - but they must wait until the ball crosses the plate before leaving the bag.
Runners are allowed 1 base on an overthrow when a play is attempted at a base.
No bunting or delayed steals will be allowed.
Maximum of 5 runs/inning will be enforced, except for the last inning where there will be no run limit.
Game time is a maximum of 1.5 hours during the week when school is in session – no inning can start after that time. Otherwise game time will be 2 hours (Saturdays & after school is out)
During the tournament there is no time limit, 6 innings or run rule will be in effect.
Otherwise noted, Little League rules will apply.
Home team of the first game preps the field for the night (lines and drags the field).
Home team of each game is responsible for someone (preferably an adult) to run the scoreboard.
Home team of the last game must put the scoreboard equipment away.
All teams are responsible for raking the base paths after each game and after practices.
Both teams are to pick up trash along the fence row after each game
The second game will start 15 minutes after the first game ends.
In case of rain-out, a game will be considered official only if 4 complete innings have been played.
Baseball bat requirements: may not be any longer than 33 inches and 2 5/8 inches in diameter. They must have the USA stamp on it. A player caught in the batter’s box with an illegal bat will be called out. A player that is proven to have used an illegal bat will be called out.
A play will be considered complete when the ball is attempted to be thrown back to the pitcher to end the play. If the pitcher misses the catch, the play is still over. Any runner not over halfway to the next base when a play is completed must return to the prior base.
